We Are #AviationStrong

Now is that time to innovate and plan for better days.

This month began my 34th year in aviation—a lot longer if you count the fact that I was born into an aviation family. What first attracted me to this industry is to this day what continues to keep me engaged and excited every day.

We are, as a group, adrenaline junkies. We thrive on the need to find better, more innovative ways to do what we do, and to deliver our quality products and services as fast as possible in order to keep commerce moving.

Be it commercial, business, general or military transport, the aftermarket has thrived and succeeded by always adapting. As an industry we have faced many challenges together. But 2020 will test our collective resilience.

Our Industry Continues to Thrive

As dark as things are right now, some in our industry continue to thrive. The cargo industry, for example, is there to support the pandemic relief from PPE deliveries to the day-to-day needs of those of us working from home. The collective supply chain becomes that much more indispensable and as always, the aviation professionals that support it are up to the task.

We as an industry must look beyond today, because there will be a tomorrow that will welcome our global society’s need to travel. I for one am looking forward to getting back in the air and continuing my life’s work in this industry. The only “zooming” I would like to be doing is on one of the many great global airlines I love to fly on.

The Brightest Days are Ahead

I have an unwavering sense of optimism that the brightest days of our industry still lie ahead of us. So what can we do now in order to prepare? In the past, after every downturn, our industry came back stronger. It does evolve, though. Buying habits change, aircraft are repurposed and once again the aftermarket must adapt.

For my entire career, the one constant has been change, and my willingness to embrace it. Change for change’s sake is a terrible thing, but so is doing something simply because “that is how we’ve always done it.” Now is the time for process Improvement. How can we make the most of less? How can we in the future do more with less?  How can we do what we do smarter, faster and better?

AeroParts Now is a Force Multiplier for Your Business

In the typical “aviation is a small world” fashion I connected with the owners of an innovative aviation software company, AeroParts Now (APN). Fifteen minutes into my first demo I was hooked and agreed to join their board. They are truly Innovators. Their software development team is made up of professionals with a foothold in aerospace—professionals who just get it.

From my years in military aviation the term “force multiplier” became synonymous with process improvement. APN is truly a force multiplier for your business and something long overdue. I have been concerned over the past few years watching the amount of consolidation taking place in the software and marketplace sector of the industry. It is competition that breeds innovation, not corporate consolidation. Now is that time to innovate and plan for better days.

I encourage you to reach out and set up a live demo with AeroParts Now—you won’t be disappointed.

We will see our way through this we are #aviationstrong.
